Why love supersedes everything

Once after having my pre-birthday lunch at Matunga Gujarati club, my aged teacher and I were returning back home in a cab. I remember very vividly we were at a signal and he said that this is the Irani café where he and his friends would stop by after school.

He told me the story of the owner and how the owner was in a relationship with someone and the girl got pregnant. But the owner wasn’t yet ready to marry her. So the girl’s father summoned a famous politician, who came with a couple of men and asked this guy, “why aren’t you marrying the girl?” And the guy immediately caved and married the girl under pressure.

After he told the story (in a better fashion than what I have written above) I said instantly, "Power is everything isn’t it? So amazing to have power in life." Because I was impressed at the politician’s power to make someone else do something they were reluctant to do.

He turned to me and said, "No, love is enough." And he gave example of Modi.

That statement really stuck with me and I decided to make it my next thought experiment. To see whether love really supersedes power.

The week my father had the stroke, I realised every single anxiety I have had about life pales in comparison to this: the uncertainty of the lifespan of someone I love.

While I did the running around, along with rest of my family. I have realised only one thing powers us and everyone in this world, that is love.

Money is necessity in life to perform. Even some amount of analytical thinking is required. But nothing, and I have realised, absolutely nothing comes in front of Love.

Love itself is so powerful that even in the hardest of days it powers you to do all the tasks you never thought you could. Somehow it charges you up.

While there were major blunders we did throughout this time such as delay in calling for ambulance, not realising father has stopped essential medications many months ago and many other faults. I feel one thing is only helping us power through this arduous moment in our life and that is love.

Somehow I am glad this thought experiment has come to a conclusion.

Recent events have also taught me that life is uncertain and only that is certain. But we need to keep performing the right actions, without wondering about the results.

So forget about having the power to make someone else do something they are reluctant. Only your actions matter in your life, nothing else.

Have a great week ahead!
